ABOUT ME
As a counseling psychologist, I aim to create a safe space for my clients of all ages, genders, sexualities, religions, and lifestyles. I am here to listen to your story and help you make sense of it.
I find that my main role is to empower my clients to find their answers within themselves. Change can only last when it starts within from an authentic place. I can accompany you and support you on your journey of self discovery, but only you can guide the way forward.
Background:
After getting my psychology degree from Rutgers in the U.S., I spent two years working and training as a psychologist in Egypt before moving to the Netherlands to complete my graduate degree. Having lived as an expat and an international student in different countries, I understand the struggles that come with adjusting to a new culture and of not fully belonging in one place.

I can help you with…
Support
Sometimes all we need is for someone to listen. This is a safe space for you to tell your story and process your emotions. I am here to listen and help you sift through it.
Increasing Self Awareness
If you are looking to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and how you developed into the person you are today. I would be honored to go on this journey of self discovery with you.
Improving Interpersonal Relationships
Sometimes we get stuck with unhelpful communication patterns, boundaries, or thinking styles. Identifying these patterns, how you contribute to them, and what you can do differently can vastly improve the quality of your relationship with your partner, parent, sibling, friend, or coworker.
Reducing Symptoms
If you are struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, grief, or stress, I can help you understand the underlying cause of these feelings and we can work together to make changes if necessary.
My Approach & Philosophy

HOW I WORK
Using a client centered approach, I work with you to construct a treatment method that suits your needs and matches your pace. No one approach works for everyone and together we will take time to find what resonates with you. Typically we will start with an intake session to discuss what brings you to therapy and I will ask you some background information to get to know you better. Afterwards, we will move forward together and attend to any feelings or thoughts that you come in with and let the course of therapy unfold over time. My approach is inspired by a combination of Psychodynamic, Existential, Gestalt, Schema, and CBT.
IN DEPTH REFLECTION FOR LONG TERM CHANGE
My approach to treatment is inspired by existential and psychodynamic therapies. By taking a closer look at more subtly recurring patterns throughout your life, we can better understand how you’ve developed into the person you are today. Self understanding is an incredibly empowering tool. Developing a deeper understanding of yourself and your motivations helps you increase self compassion and acceptance, while also making the necessary changes to help you live a more authentic life.
FASTER SHORT TERM SOLUTIONS
For a shorter term therapy, I find that using a combination of CBT and schema therapy is very effective in understanding the relationship between thought feeling and behavior. This allows us to understand the underlying cause of an issue and work on modifying unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
THE NAUTILUS METAPHOR
When the Nautilus outgrows its’ chamber, it builds a bigger chamber as an extension to the same shell. This limitless potential makes for a great metaphor for psychological growth. There is always more room to grow.
Too often we try to leave parts of ourselves or our stories behind that don’t fit us anymore or that we are ashamed of. Alternatively, in the same way that the Nautilus builds upon and expands its’ shell, we can build upon our pasts. Transforming ourselves and moving forward instead of attempting to discard or forget the past which has brought us here. In this way, our understanding of our past selves acts as the basis for new growth.
The helix shape found inside the nautilus shell is also often used as a symbol for resilience. I find that humans are extremely resilient beings, though we don’t always recognize it in ourselves. I work with my clients to empower them to see and cultivate their own resilience.
